I wholeheartedly agree; especially given that when you move to XHTML
and real XML parsers, using ampersands causes real trouble since it
is taken for an entity.

Agreed again, except that at least one widely used CGI library already
supports the semicolon (I think it is Lincoln Stein's perl library)
