Greg and I had some time on the call today, and decided to work on 1.4, pulling together notes from the meeting of 8 May into a proposal that the working group could look at. =============================== 1.4.1 ----- ==Existing 1.4.1 Text Scale, Color, Font (Globally): The user can globally set all of the following characteristics of visually rendered text content: (Level A) * Text scale with preserved size distinctions (e.g. keeping headings proportional to main font) * Text color and background color, choosing from all platform color options * Font family, choosing from all installed fonts ==Proposed - change handle to Text Blocks - remove bullets - move Margins from 1.4.5 to 1.4.3 and rephrase 1.4.3 Text Blocks (Globally): The user can globally set all of the following characteristics of visually rendered blocks of text: (Level AA) * Character spacing, choosing from a range with at least five values * Justification (left, right, or full) * Margins around blocks of text UAWG Note: Probably need definition of Blocks of text UAWG Note: add Wayne's recommendation of the range (MIN 0.02 to MAX 0.1 of the base character width) to Implementing Intent section. ================================= 1.4.4 ------ No change ================================= 1.4.5 ----- ==Existing 1.4.5 Text Style, Margins, Borders (by Element): The user can set all of the following characteristics of visually rendered text content for main text and for text element types including at least headings, input fields and links: (Level AAA) * Text style (underline, italic, bold) * Margins (for example, space above headings, indentation of lists) * Borders ==Proposed - change order of 1.4.5 and 1.4.6 so (Globally) is first for consistency - remove bullet for margins - change handle to Advanced text formatting (by Element) 1.4.6 Advanced text formatting (by Element): The user can set all of the following characteristics of visually rendered text content for main text and for text element types including at least headings, input fields and links: (Level AAA) * Text style (underline, italic, bold) * Borders =================================== 1.4.6 ----- ==Existing 1.4.6 Spacing, Capitalization and Hyphenation (Globally): The user can globally set all of the following characteristics of visually rendered blocks of text: (Level AAA) * Line spacing between 0.7 and 3.0 times the font height, at increments of 0.10 * Capitalization (overriding upper case and small caps style) * Word-breaking properties (auto-hyphenation) * Margins * Borders ==Proposed - change handle to Advanced text formatting (Globally) - move before the present 1.4.5 - remove bullets for line spacing and margins - add bullet for text style 1.4.6 Spacing, Capitalization and Hyphenation (Globally): The user can globally set all of the following characteristics of visually rendered blocks of text: (Level AAA) * Text style (underline, italic, bold) * Capitalization (overriding upper case and small caps style) * Word-breaking properties (auto-hyphenation) * Borders
