I don't think this checkpoint should be deprecated.

Example:

This example shows the confusion on having no separation between links

<a href="http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butter">Butter</a><a
href="http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fly">fly</a>

... which leads to Butterfly looking just as a single link in graphical 
browsers.
