Len --since you have emacspeak available to you check out
its behavior with the emacs spread sheet.
Cell, row, column and sheet summaries are all fully
customizable --with the summaries able to splice in values
from arbitrary cells in the sheet --as opposed to blindly
depending on the first row or column containing the header info.
