For API-style specifications it encourages the old DOM way of writing  
things down, which often leads to problems (Web Notifications and Battery  
Status API are examples that come to mind).

Regarding the information you talk about extracting, isn't that trivial to  
extract from the document itself? It's all there in the HTML...
