the web is a tough sell. some text and inline images? who would want that...

people will always be selfishly motivated the semantic web provides more value to this massxive web. just like javascript lets you do more things than 'boring' text with inline image. 


selling some orthogonal solution 'stack' thats been predetermined from the ground up without letting things evolve as needed (eg OWL DL vs microformats) may be a bit futile, but thats another issue
