DRAFT#1 Transition Request: PER Request for XML Base Second Edition

Here is my first draft PER requestion for XML Base Second Edition.

Please review and comment, especially Henry and Richard.

I picked Dec 20th at the publication date, and I recommend
Richard, Jose, Thomas, and Glenn all plan accordingly in their
drafts (though be prepared to change at the last minute
if necessary).

Richard, be sure to add "(Second Edition)" to the title
of XML Base. Also note the URLs of things I used in
this draft as marked by ***. The file at
http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2006/09/xmlbase-2e/Overview.html
should be the non-diff-markup one, and the diff-markup one
should be at
http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2006/09/xmlbase-2e/xmlbase-review.html
or some such. Also take note of the text I suggest for the
Status section below, though modify as you see fit and/or
as dictated by pubrules. Note that I opted to continue
to refer to http://www.w3.org/2001/06/xmlbase-errata for
ongoing XML Base errata. I'm not sure if this is what you
had in mind or not, and I can go any way you want; it's just
that I know this URL is already created, so we don't have
to worry about that. Let me know if you prefer something else.

Finally, I didn't mention anything about known implementations
or test suites, as I wasn't sure what to say here. Ideas welcome.

paul

to a Proposed Edited Recommendation (PER).

The URL cited above is for the most recent Member-only
version of the specification as of @@ December 2006, @@@

in its entirety.

The XML Base First Edition was published on 27 June 2001

are recorded in the XML Base Errata document at

A diff-marked review copy of this PER is available at

SCHEDULE

Depending on the scheduling of the PER call, we propose a

We propose that the PER period lasts from the date of publication
until 31 January 2007.

PROPOSED CR TITLE, ABSTRACT AND STATUS SECTIONS

Abstract

This document describes a facility, similar to that of HTML BASE,
for defining base URIs for parts of XML documents.

Status of this Document

This section describes the status of this document at the time
of its publication. Other documents may supersede this document.
A list of current W3C publications and the latest revision of this
technical report can be found in the W3C technical reports index
at http://www.w3.org/TR/.

This document has been produced by the W3C XML Core Working
Group as part of the XML Activity. The English version of
this specification is the only normative version. However,
for translations of this document, see
http://www.w3.org/2003/03/Translations/byTechnology?technology=xmlbase.

This document is a Proposed Edited Recommendation of the W3C.
This second edition is not a new version of XML Base. As a convenience
to readers, it incorporates the changes dictated by the accumulated
errata (available at http://www.w3.org/2001/06/xmlbase-errata)
to the First Edition of XML Base, dated 27 June 2001.

W3C Advisory Committee Members are invited to send formal review
comments to the W3C Team until 31 January 2007. Advisory Committee
Representatives should consult their WBS questionnaires. The
public is invited to send comments on this document to
www-xml-linking-comments@w3.org; public archives are available.

The errata list for this edition is available at
http://www.w3.org/XML/2006/11/xinclude-errata. ***

Publication as a Proposed Edited Recommendation does not imply
endorsement by the W3C Membership. This is a draft document
and may be updated, replaced or obsoleted by other documents
at any time. It is inappropriate to cite this document as other
than work in progress.

This document has been produced under the 24 January 2002 CPP
as amended by the W3C Patent Policy Transition Procedure.
An individual who has actual knowledge of a patent which the
individual believes contains Essential Claim(s) with respect
to this specification should disclose the information in
accordance with section 6 of the W3C Patent Policy. Documentation
of intellectual property possibly relevant to this specification
may be found at the Working Group's public IPR disclosure page.
