@ChrisTalman, looking at your screenshots, it seems that the rationale for adding the custom controls is to control the color of the top bar (though other buttons could be added - as Note above does). As such, I wonder if [`theme_color`](https://www.w3.org/TR/appmanifest/#theme_color-member) would solve for controlling the color of the top-bar at least?
