It's not normalized either. E.g., `https://EXAMPLE.com/../x` is a valid URL, but not normalized (the parser will normalize it to some extent). It's just valid syntax. It seems that you use syntax to mean something else from what we use it for. Avoiding that confusion would be good, but I don't think you have shown that the benefits that have been cited are not benefits somehow.
