Thanks @owencm for the words of encouragement, tho I'm still looking for implementation commitment if we are to add this. 

@kenchris, any chance you could go back over this and address the outstanding bits of feedback (and rebase)? We can then have a solid proposal to keep shopping around.     

@andreasbovens, we should discuss this proposal next week... see if it's implementable and if we can get it onto the Fennec roadmap.
