Checking the shape in what sense?  What are you really trying to enforce?

Note that the checks https://drafts.css-houdini.org/css-paint-api/#dom-paintworkletglobalscope-registerpaint does guarantee absolutely nothing, since what they return can change right after registerPaint returns...
