@rniwa : Just out of curiosity, could you explain what those security issues are? I mean I get that if using the right word to correct, the js program may be able to find out that the user has added a specific word to his custom dictionary. Is this the security concern? And could it not be handled like access to camera and other devices?

Such an event as you describe is better than nothing, but still I think the usefulness of this kind of spell checking for the kind of editors that can make use of contenteditable=typing over contenteditable=true, will be very limited.
