@johanneswilm, this is very surprising to me. To lack the interest or resources to maintain `execCommand()` is one thing, but to hold out hope that it could eventually be removed (why else deprecate?) seems unwarranted.

If the W3C Editing TF doesn't continue work for `execCommand()` then someone else will have to, at least to minimally maintain it so that integration jobs of the kind discussed in this spec can be performed.
