Re: Follow-up to WAI site redesign today's meeting

Thanks Sharron,

Yes – Per yesterday's request from Shawn, I will summarize what I shared with Alicia after returning from our F2F on 11/15. I was not Scribe, so my handwritten notes were focused on themes and overall value to Alicia versus recording everyone's opinions verbatim. Shawn, if you feel that your comments made during the F2F are not represented below, feel free to reply to this thread so they can be documented and/or tell Alicia directly. Realize she may likely have heard them from me already, but I'm recreating what you see below after more than three weeks.

Initial WG Feedback on Alicia's Preview Design

  * Top Nav takes up a lot of real estate and breadcrumbs seem like they are part of top nav
  * Changing background of breadcrumbs to white would help separate them and reduce the feel of massive top nav.
  * Font seems a little small – compare to W3 and make sure it is big enough.
  * The teal used doesn't quite pass 4.5:1 (Likely since the white background isn't pure white), so we need to darken it a tiny bit to pass.
  * Left aligned links under icon sections were preferred by one or two people.
  * Design needs a strong footer.
  * One or two people wanted to see more use of the accent colors of yellow and red.
  * Words for overall design: strong, solid, polished, clean, neat, professional, authoritative, stable, corporate.
  * Words for iconography: warm, stable, yet approachable.
  * Everyone seemed to like it well enough… but everyone LOVED the icons. Can Alicia make a whole set?
  * Seems a bit corporate without icons – can we have one on every page?

James

Subject: Follow-up to WAI site redesign today's meeting

Dear James,

Shawn has asked that you (and/or Alicia) provide the list of feedback items that you passed along to her from the face to face. The purpose is to:
1. ensure that Shawn registered all of her feedback and
2. to correlate with Judy's feedback and avoid duplication.

We understand from your response today that since the mock-ups were presented weeks ago, any additional feedback will be considered late at this point.

Thanks very much!
Sharron
