Re: FPWG for IMSC 1.2

Thierry,

Thanks for pointing out the Process wording. I had not noticed that before.

Philippe,

please could you unblock this? I'd suggest you could help either by prompting the Director to approve the new Charter or by requesting an exception to this normal rule on the grounds that TTWG is chartered either under the old or the new charter, and that, though this is a FPWD, it is effectively a new iteration on an existing Rec.

kind regards,

Nigel

Pierre,

I had prepare the IMSC 1.2 Transition Request on Oct 26th.

But it may be that the TTWG can not currently publish FPWD, regarding the W3C process as the TTWG charter is awaiting a Director's decision on the Advisory Committee Review.

« Transition Requests to First Public Working Draft or Candidate Recommendation<https://www.w3.org/2019/Process-20190301/#candidate-rec> will not normally be approved while a Working Group's charter is undergoing or awaiting a Director's decision on an Advisory Committee Review. ».

The AC review of new Timed Text WG Charter started Aug 12th. and ended September 10th 2019.

Result are available here (for those with proper access)
https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/33280/tt-2019/results

It is now two months since the AC review is over, not sure why the Director did not yet pronounce his decision.

Best,

Thierry

Hi Atsushi,

My input below.

- I need to cite the resolution in transition request, could you write short email on that?

See https://www.w3.org/2019/10/10-tt-minutes.html

Ok. When is the deadline?

- how about publication target date to Nov/14?

Sounds good to me.

and we are about to merge #496 for finishing FPWD document.

Please generate the FPWD from #496, but do not merge the branch. I

will merge it after the FPWD is published.

- [ ] change date to target FPWD publication

Done at #496

- [ ] check remaining 'XXX' points

Can you clarify what you mean?

I think CfC period over (although resolution has not stated yet, neither in call minutes nor

email on mail list?), and we are about to merge #496 for finishing FPWD document.

From process side, may I ask some in addition to these?

Hi Thierry,

Quick clarification.

The FPWD should simply be generated from [1].

I had mistakenly thought that [1] depended on [2]. This was not the

case, and [2] was merged into the current editor's draft.

Nigel, Atsushi and all,

PlH asked me to look into the publication of IMSC1.2 FPWD

I think this spec publication was discussed during the meeting at TPAC sept 18th , where unfortunately I could not participate.

https://www.w3.org/2019/09/18-tt-minutes.html#x11

Therefore I have investigated into it:

Looking at Github https://github.com/w3c/imsc/pull/485

there was a remaining issue about " Add support for #font using external resources".

This issue was discussed during the sept 5th teleconference before following TPAC and is resolved.

From what I remember from the following teleconferences I attended after TPAC,

- this was first discussed during the 03 october telecon,

https://www.w3.org/2019/10/03-tt-minutes.html#x08

which triggered a PR which was approved by Glenn and Nigel and PR was merged.

at the end of this discussion there was a remaining issue about Vladimir to review this pull request. Did we receive any comment from him ?

This FPWD publication was also discussed during the 10 october telecon,

https://www.w3.org/2019/10/10-tt-minutes.html#x04

There was a resolution to publish IMSC1.2 as FPWD after a 10 working days period according to our Decision Policy, for consensus, starting on October 10th and ending Octobre 25th.

Today, this period as ended and therefore I believe we can start the process of transition/publication request.

The FPWD is available at

https://github.com/w3c/imsc/pull/496

But there seem to be a Commit for "Correct HTTP reference" for which Pierre requested review from Ashimura and Nigel on October 10th days ago. I am not sure there is approval yet.

Let me know.

Nevertheless, I have requested Transition to the director.

https://github.com/w3c/transitions/issues/180

But as Atsushi recommended, this Transition Request is on HOLD until we have a final Green light from the TTWG.
