Re: Using "tracking" in compliance document (ISSUE-203)

I had a possible action from this morning to trace-back to the “do not cross-site track” proposal I made. It was in April 2012 (wow), at <http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-tracking/2012Apr/0077.html>

Interestingly I also tried to cover

* is it OK to use cross-site data while responding to a transaction? (yes)
* is it OK to record data gleaned from elsewhere during the transaction, possibly tainted by knowing site information? (no)

I recognized that, as Roy does, the data will flow within a party.

I don’t see any follow-up emails. It was discussed at the face to face in Washington on the 10th April, and the minutes, such as they are for that day, are here <http://www.w3.org/2012/04/10-dnt-minutes>. It’s first in the section “Overview of the 5 Different Proposals”. I ma having a hard time working out why it wasn’t adopted, from looking at the minutes, or what the problems and objections were. Maybe people can remind us, if they remember.
