Re: [MM] Re: new prototype for multimedia annotations - what's similar out there?

Thank you Raphael for your valuable reply.
  Suggestion:
In the MM web page, have a table to classify the tool references:

  ---------------------------|--audio ----------|------video-----|-----structural----|---------descriptive-------
  Content type: | 4,5,6,7,8,9 | 4,5,6,7,8,9 | |
  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Type of MetaData: | | | 2 | 2

Dear Anil, Regarding the various tools for annotating images, a list is available on http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/BestPractices/MM/resources/Tools.html where each tool is briefly described with their main features. This resource page will still evolve as soon as we discover new relevant tools. If you are avare of some of them, then please let us know so we can update these pages.
For addressing your specific comment: Specifically, from the text of http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/BestPractices/MM/image_annotation.html#tools Can you please point me to work that has been done regarding:Annotation Level: that is considered to be free level.Did you look for some tools that allow to annotate freely (i.e. without using a controlled vocabulary) some images ? Then, you can take a look at general annotation tool, not image specific but that can annotate this type of media. Annotea [1] is a good example of such a tool. Type of MetaData: structural and descriptive.Did you search for a tool that can annotate both the structure and the content of some images ? If yes, the M-OntoMat-Annotizer [2] is one of the tool that has this kind of feature. Content type: audio and videoDid you look for a tool that can annotate both audio and video ? Note that this document is for images only, and further documents will address the video issue. However, you might take a look at
some tools like the Vizard project [3] and its
VAnnotator ; VIDETO [4] ; VAnnotea [5], COALA (Content Oriented Audiovisual Library) [6] or the SegmenTool made by INA [7]. The IBM MPEG-7 annotation tool allows to annotate both audio and video and makes use of some user defined controlled vocabulary. It is freely available at [8]. The works done around the SMIL editors are also very interesting, for instance LimSee2 [9]. Best regards. Raphaël Troncy [1] Annotea: http://www.w3.org/2001/Annotea/
