Just to clarify: 
The mechanism proposed by Alan relies on OWL inference, which means that there are not many additional triples in a given RDF document. 
The mechanism proposed by me (adding an explicit pointer to a HTTP-resolvable URL to every information resource) would necessitate an additional triple for every information resource.
If anyone could be blamed for increasing the amount of triples required, it is me, not Alan.

As I said, we are only talking about information resources, i.e. resources that represent something that can be retrieved via the internet. The discussion about the retrieval of information resources should not be mixed up with the discussion about how we can get additional RDF triples that have a given resource as subject of object -- that is something wholly different, in my opinion.
