Introduction

Hello,

after my first post to this list I also want to introduce myself to the list.

My name is Adrian Pohl (pseudonym: acka47, no former names;-). I am working at the German library service center hbz (Hochschulbibliothekszentrum des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen). We have been working on opening up data and publishing Linked Open Data since 2010. Our main project regarding linked open bibliographic data is lobid.org. We organize the SWIB conference (Semantic Web in Libraries) together with the German National Library of Economics (ZBW) - this year for the fourth time. I am also coordinating the Open Knowledge Foundation's Working Group on Open bibliographic Data[0] where we have developed the principles on open bibliographic data[1].

As I already have some experiences in data modelling and with RDF vocabularies, I thought that joining this group makes sense. In my LIS master thesis ([2], published last year in German) I examined how to describe and link libraries, their sites, collections, services (e.g. information desk, loan, reading room, catalog interface) and resources using existing RDF vocabularies. (I mainly used vCard, Dublin Core, Organization Ontology and Good Relations.) I also had a deeper look at DAIA this year (see [3]) which was already mentioned on this list. I hope that my experiences can be useful to the group's work.

In a separate mail I will pose my questions regarding the scope of the extension the group is working on.

All the best
Adrian
