Quite a well presented video of an app used to 'Tabulate' information from
various sources

The spreadsheet / grid idea could fit quite well to read write web
standards in that each 'cell' can have its own URI, type and graphical
handler

Writing to an access controlled shared data store should be doable today.

Getting notifications back is slightly more tricky, though (perhaps
surprisingly) I've had excellent results with periodic polling ....
