RE: [RSP] 07.02.14 Phone call - use case and expressivity

Hello Alessandra,

Welcome! After today's discussion, we'll be assigning RSP implementors to use cases, so to check if the use cases queries can be answered with existing RSP query languages or what extensions are needed.
If you have other specific use cases, which bring new requirements to the table, just feel free to add them. But if you do, please DO include sample queries (can be natural language description of the queries)
As you are familiar with languages like CQELS, you can challenge us by providing a use case that needs features not necessarily supported by current RSPs.

So, in short, your contributions to the use cases are more than welcome ;)

best,
Jean-Paul

Hi Jean-Paul, hello everyone.
Just joined the RSP group last week and I was in the telco, following the discussion (unfortunately audio was really bad and I seemed to have some issues with microphone).
I am WP leader of one of our Smart City Project (CityPulse http://www.ict-citypulse.eu/page/) and I am very much interested in contributing to the use-cases and relevant requirements for better RSP solutions, but I have seen you already have quite a few use cases: do you want to focus on those or are new requirements welcome at this stage? (there is quite some material on the plate already…)
My background is on rule-based reasoning and I previously worked with Danh and Manfred on enhancing CQELS with more complex rule-based inference that can cater for sequences and co-occurrences but also more complex deduction, and I am interested in contributing to the investigation of expressivity issues around RSP, how far should it go in terms of supporting complex queries (staying scalable) and how can the trade-off between expressivity and scalability can be met by combining query processing and more expressive inference.
Sorry I couldn't comment this time (hopefully on 21st Feb my mic will work properly) but I am willing to help with use cases and requirements by providing one or two classes of use cases from CityPulse, and on discussions re. expressivity. Looking forward to the next telco.
Best,Alessandra
