I think func:expect does not return list1 and list 2 but list1 minus all
elements from list 2.

Sorry, I don't understand your comment.  What does that backslash mean?

We're talking about this text, right:

 3.11.4.13 func:except (adapted from fn:except)

    * Schema:

      (?list1 ?list2; func:except(?list1 ?list2))
