Re: W3C [PBG] Agenda for 20191015/16 call - US/Asian time

HI Dave-

We were just trying to keep the agenda consistent from one meeting to the next so that the US/Europe and the US/Asia meetings didn’t feel out of sync. So you should expect a completely new agenda once each month and then minimal changes 2 weeks later. Of course there will be development on items between meetings which can be addressed during the discussion.

I have not forgotten about the list of books that I can’t make ebooks out of and the list I have of books that have less than optimal experiences. I was going to start the conversation there tonight. I’m sorry I haven’t had a chance to write that list up to get out to everyone—flu season took out a bunch of my week.

No one is suggesting jumping forward on REC track without letting the CG finish their current roadmap work. If anything, we are only confirming that we said we’d revisit this topic this fall and we are still in a place where there seems to be little support for the work REC track would entail.

Thanks.

Liisa

o EPUB 3 REC Track:

• Do you think it is necessary?

• Pros and cons document from discussion last winter:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17CyIqihtjjzT7Abbcq9sSqLNqLGKs2cuXdg4DcFulGY/edit#gid=0<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17CyIqihtjjzT7Abbcq9sSqLNqLGKs2cuXdg4DcFulGY/edit#gid=0>

• Consider this for the call next month

Is the plan to actually have the discussion on REC track, or to discuss if we should have such a discussion next month?

I think it would be useful to discuss what business needs are not currently being met by EPUB 3.2. Liisa, a few weeks ago you mentioned a list of books you couldn't publish as EPUB. I'd love to see that.

We've already had lots of discussion of REC track without making a lot of progress. Before continuing, I think we should let the EPUB 3 CG finish work on their road map, with input from the PBG on unmet business needs as I mentioned above. It's hard to talk about REC track without knowing what exactly we might want to put on REC track.

Thanks,

Dave
