Hi everyone,

Thanks for the productive kick-off meeting earlier today. We had some great questions and feedback.

Ivan has already posted the minutes<https://www.w3.org/publishing/groups/publ-wg/Meetings/Minutes/2018/2018-03-16-atf-minutes> on the PWG website. [1] We also identified and assigned specific work items, all of which are outlined in our working Google Doc<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BEiBAB-RU2FK2_3XZKUERfFi-nGwwFrMFvKe08e0-QQ/edit>. [2] The schedule for the next two weeks is:


  1.  As a group, review and comment on affordance-related Github issues<https://github.com/w3c/wpub/labels/topic%3Aaffordances>. [3]
  2.  Zheng has taken on the template work outlined in #143<https://github.com/w3c/wpub/issues/143> [4], and we’re aiming for a final template by 3/31.
  3.  Katie, Tzviya, and I will continue classification/discovery work on open issues and the WP UCR document<https://www.w3.org/TR/pwp-ucr/>. [5]

As Jasmine said on the call, no need to wait until the template is ready. Let’s all try to tease out the big questions and details in Github first, and we can pour it all into the template when we have it. We’d like to start writing and editorial work with Matt and Ivan in April.

I will also follow up to schedule a recurring call time for April-May.

Hi all,

I have had a few people reach out about the difficulty of scheduling a viable time for this call, especially with such broad interest across a diverse group (ultimately a great problem to have—we need contributions from a diverse set!). With this in mind, Jasmine and I would like to propose that we hold the call at 9am EDT this coming Friday, 3/16. With several conferences happening next week, this is likely the best time to kick off this important work until after March 26th, which would delay us too much.

Great to see kick start meeting going ahead.
Unfortunately, most of the timings are not suitable for Asia. There is only one day when I can attend.
For world wide participation, best timings are 14, 15, 16 and 17 UTC. But most of these options exclude these timings.

Following up on Tzviya’s announcement at last week’s call, Jasmine and I are now calling for participation in the Affordances Task Force. For a comprehensive overview of the ongoing discussions around affordances, please check the growing list of open Github issues<https://github.com/w3c/wpub/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3Atopic%3Aaffordances>. [1]

The goal of this TF is to formalize the technical requirements for publication-specific affordances so they can be integrated into the Web Publications specification<https://w3c.github.io/wpub/#wp-affordances>. [2]

We welcome and encourage participation from anyone, regardless of self-perceived technical fluency. Affordances need input from both the technical and non-technical perspectives.

The scope of our work, initial work items, timeline, and “administrivia” are all outlined in detail in the spin-up document<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BEiBAB-RU2FK2_3XZKUERfFi-nGwwFrMFvKe08e0-QQ/edit?usp=sharing> in Google Docs. [3]
