I'd like to reiterate a version of Sandro's point: In calendar tools,  
clocks, cell phones, oss, blog systems, etc. etc., speccing the time  
zone (or a defaulting to UTC) is standard and users cope fine.

Being in line with this practice seems perfectly acceptable.
