I guess the problem I would come across fairly quickly is links overlapping, forking your example:

With the browser 1024px wide, the two links in the first paragraph overlap a lot, and the second (bbc) is over the top of the first. They overlap to such an extent that without the green background you wouldn’t realise you were clicking the wrong link.

You could add editorial rules not to put links too close to each other, but in a responsive site that would be really hard to get right.

It is a good idea, but I can’t see how to scale it for CMS driven sites.
