RE : Checking MA mapping examples

Dear Werner,

I have been looking at the file. I had to look at the code as the tools I am using did'nt really allow me to see this.

Actually I believe I have another slightly different and simpler proposal:

- document out is fine - this is a leftover
- I would simply delete the locator of the collection as this is more abstract and correconds more to the directory sructure where news items are stored per day. No need to use format.

Actually, the collection should be corrected to http://www.dummy.ch/News/16Jan2011/Items/. I have added the collectionName as "DailyNewsItems"

The corrected file is attached. Please check if it validates this time.

Thanks and regards,

jean-Pierre

Dear Jean-Pierre,

please find attached an updated version of the EBUCore example with the following proposed fixes:

- remove ma-ont:Document (there is no Document class in the MA ontology)
- replace ma-ont:locator of the collection by dc:format (as the use of MA locator causes the reasoner to infer that the instance is a MediaResource, which is in conflict of being a collection).

If you have other ideas how to fix this issues, please let us know.

Best regards,
Werner

Dear Jean-Pierre,

thank you for your response.
Pellet is not the reference, this reasoner is just one among others. However, I personally prefer to use this reasoner because of its reasoner capabilities.

I will try to explain my interpretation of the ontology inconsistency:

The following resource is an instance of ma:Collection.

<http://www.dummy.ch/News/16Jan2011/Items/20110116-PNN-0428-528229/>
      a       ma-ont:Document , ma-ont:Collection ;
      ma-ont:locator "http://www.dummy.ch/News/16Jan2011/Items/20110116-PNN-0428-528229/index.html"^^<http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#anyURI> .

Since this resource has a ma:locator property (Domain: ma:MediaResource) it will be inferred as an instance of class ma:MediaResource.
Furthermore, ma:MediaResource and ma:Collection are disjoint classes and the ontology is consistent.

Best,
Martin

Dear Martin,

I have checked the EBUCore instance with different tools and couldn't find errors.

I would need more information than this to try and fix errors what Pellet apparently detected. I'll start by checking the collection issue.

Why do others tools not find these errors? Is Pellet the absolute reference? Why?

Regards,

Jean-Pierre

Objet : Checking MA mapping examples

Dear all,

I have finished checking all mapping examples with Protégé and Pellet.

Here is my list of issues:

- Missing comment line containing creation and version information (cf. [1])

- In some cases, datatype values are represented as strings rather than xsd:decimal

- Sme datatype values include units, which should be removed (eg. Kbps)

- In 3gp-Example-v4.rdf the xml:base directive should be removed in order to import the ma ontology correctly

- According to Pellet, the EBUCore example is inconsistent. Possible reason is that at least one instance is a member of two disjoint classes (MediaResource and Collection).

- Cablelabs 1. 1 example is not RDF valid
I propose to discuss these issues during the upcoming F2F meeting.
