My CP for ISSUE-126 is known to be defective; I tried to rephrase the 
algorithm without introducing too many changes, but as Philip observed 
that simply does not work for backslash-escaping.

As ISSUE-126 is related to ISSUE-125, maybe we could just park this one 
until we have a decision on -125? Otherwise, I'll need a few days to get 
it fixed.
