Summary: Spec doesn't handle unknown schemes
           Product: HTML WG
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P5
         Component: Spec bugs
        AssignedTo: dave.null@w3.org
        ReportedBy: ian@hixie.ch
         QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org
                CC: ian@hixie.ch, mike@w3.org, public-html@w3.org

Many parts of the spec (e.g. anywhere that talks about "default port") assume
that all schemes are known. We should make sure that anywhere that handles URLs
knows how to handle unknown schemes.
