RE: Using WAI-ARIA in HTML ready for publication

As a general principle Editors should not make technical changes to a document AFTER a CfC to publish the Working Draft without explicitly asking the WG for further approval.

And in this the case the WAI-ARIA in HTML specification actually refers to the HTML 5.0 CR draft in its references and therefore slipping in a HTML 5.1 is not appropriate.

Therefore I recommend that you withdraw the "main" changes from this FPWD before it is published.

Hi paul,

that predates the CFC

This was a technical edit to mirror the html 5.1 spec, the aim of the document is to be up to date, but if you think that it is nothing something that should not be in the publication it can certainly be removed.

Can you confirm that you will also removed the reference in Section 2.10 Recommendations Table to aria-hidden?

One of the changes to the Section 2.10 Recommendations Table does not appear to be editorial since it adds a row for the proposed "main" HTML element. Was this also added after the CfC for the publication of this document?

Hi Paul,

the changes to the recommendations table are editorial corrections.

the section on aria-hidden is an addition I made to the editors draft, but did not intend to be in the working draft. I have removed it from the working draft copy.

The diff you provided shows changes in Section 2.9 Using aria-hidden and in several places in the Section 2.10 Recommendations Table that do not appear in your list of editorial changes. Can you also explain these changes?

Here is a full summary of editorial changes in one place that have been made since the calls for consensus for publication with both PFWG and HTML WG:

   - updated title to match WAI-ARIA spec name
   - updated copyright date
   - expanded description of the doc in the Abstract
   - clarified relation to HTML Accessibility TF and PFWG in the Status
   - added an Introduction to the document.

Based on dates of the mercurial file versions and dates of the CfCs, it looks like the diff showing all changes between the document version that the Task Force and both Working Groups reviewed, till now, (not just these last edits) would be this one:

   <http://services.w3.org/htmldiff?doc1=https%3A%2F%2Fdvcs.w3.org%2Fhg%2Faria-unofficial%2Fraw-file%2F4aa58eed6108%2Findex.html&doc2=https%3A%2F%2Fdvcs.w3.org%2Fhg%2Faria-unofficial%2Fraw-file%2Fe5d93aef7530%2Findex.html>

The edits earlier today were to match changes that had already been requested.

My understanding is that, per prior WG & TF coordination discussion, unless any comments are received on these changes after a 48-hour FYI to the TF and the 2 WGs, then the document should be ready for publication at that point.

Regards,

- Judy
