Richard, your input here was very helpful when I shaped bug 12590, [1]
which is the one I promised Steve I would file.
In regard to the bug discussed in the current thread, bug 12587, as
well as in regard to you and Steve's advocation of alt="" as
interchangeable with role=presentation, then your comments above shows
that alt="" is not always equal to role=presentation, since an empty or
omitted @title is required as well.
This is new info. But not necessarily info which supports reopening the
Decision.
By the way: an empty @alt plus an empty or omitted @title is not the
only thing that is required to make sure AT treats the IMG as
presentational: judging by how VoiceOver behaves, there must also not
be any @aria-label, @aria-labelledby or @aria-describedby. I have not
said this in bug 12590 - but it perhaps should be said? Feel free to
add it.
