Does Philippe have the final MSE PR he needs for the Proposed Recommendation publication?

Edge supports ID3 Metadata Tags inband for Media Elements and MSE, and 608/708 inband for Media Elements (but not MSE).

Subject: Re: Preparation of MSE Proposed Recommendation

I'm back in the office today. I'll:
1. merge https://github.com/w3c/media-source/pull/164 shortly
2. prepare a PR to fix https://github.com/w3c/media-source/issues/159 shortly

Regarding text tracks AI from last sync, I note that we have little test suite coverage of that spec area: just IDL-related tests, tracked by https://github.com/w3c/web-platform-tests/issues/3673

Jerry: How is Edge's support for in-band text track parsing? Is there support (or committed-to-implementing support) for it (and if for a particular subset of bytestreams, which ones)?

Thanks,
Matt

I have submitted the MSE PR Transition Request and the review with the Director will be on Monday. We need the draft Proposed Recommendation updated BEFORE that review.

See the HME WG Decision below.

Philippe and I need the changes for the following issues made ASAP:

a) ISSUE-159: Unecessary argument provided to Append Error Algorithm
https://github.com/w3c/media-source/issues/159

b) ISSUE-163: Incorrect reference to "highest end time" in a non-normative note
https://github.com/w3c/media-source/issues/163

Matt sent me a note on Sunday that he was sick and might be off work Monday PDT. Could Jerry or Mark merge in the changes required for these two issues?

Please respond to let me know who is going to apply these changes.

Subject: WG Decision: Request transition of Media Source Extensions (MSE) to Proposed Recommendation

Since there were no objections to this CfC and several indications of support, the resolution passes and we will request the Director to approve transition of Media Source Extensions (MSE) to Proposed Recommendation.

The MSE Editors should update the MSE specification with the editorial changes that were found during the CfC and inform the WG when the completed document is ready.

Subject: CfC: Request transition of Media Source Extensions (MSE) to Proposed Recommendation

In accordance with the W3C process's requirement to record the group's decision to request advancement [1], this is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to request transition to Proposed Recommendation for the following Media Source Extensions (MSE) document:

https://w3c.github.io/media-source/media-source-pr.html

For your reference there is list of recent commits to the MSE specification:

https://github.com/w3c/media-source/commits/gh-pages/media-source-respec.html

There were 60 V1, V1Editorial and V1NonBlocking issues processed since the MSE issues were triaged in March 2016 [2] for the Candidate Recommendation specifications [3-5]:

34 V1 issues: https://github.com/w3c/media-source/milestone/2?closed=1

25 V1Editorial issues: https://github.com/w3c/media-source/milestone/5?closed=1

1 V1NonBlocking issues: https://github.com/w3c/media-source/milestone/4?closed=1

A list of all issues against MSE is available at:

https://github.com/w3c/media-source/issues?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=is%3Aissue

and a list of issues NOT dealt with in this cycle and assigned to the VNext milestone is available at:

https://github.com/w3c/media-source/milestone/1

ISSUE-74 which is tagged as V1Editorial is still outstanding and the MSE Registry will be published as a WG Note before we present the Proposed Recommendation to the W3C Director.

https://github.com/w3c/media-source/issues/74

Test results for this specification can be found at [6-8]. An updated analysis of the test results is available at [9]. Note that we plan to continue updating the MSE test results until we present the draft Proposed Recommendation to the W3C Director.

Silence will be taken to mean there is no objection, but positive responses are encouraged. If there are no objections by Friday 16 September, this resolution will carry.

Considerations to note:

- A request to advance indicates that the Working Group believes the specification is stable and appropriate for advancement to Recommendation status.
