All - my colleague, Mark Burgoyne, mentioned [TextQL][1] to me just now; an MIT Licensed command-line application that allows one to execute SQL commands against tabular (CSV, TSV) data. Looks like fun & is another example of the ingenuity that people go to when working with well structured tabular data!
