oops
sorry for the confusion

you can always map directly from JSON to Javascript objects/variables
but
it is always (more) work to map from XML to Javascript objects/variables

frankly
I hate JSON & love XML
and yet
it probably bears mentioning somehow
that JSON may be the better choice for mobile targets
