Dear all,

Some of you have missed the recent e-mail conversation[1] over the
week-end: I am happy to announce that a new community group for web audio
developers has been proposed, voted up, and created in the past couple of
days.

The community group home page is at:
https://www.w3.org/community/audio-dev/

And its mailing-list, which every community group members automatically
subscribe to, is public-audio-dev@w3.org (copied here).

As the work of our working group progresses, we are likely to see an
increase in the numbers of developers using the web audio (and web midi)
specifications and early implementations, and it felt like a good time to
create a place for developers to share, learn, and feed back to this
working group.

This new group will not greatly change the dynamics of the working group.

I expect the WG will continue doing what it does, working on the specs,
discussing technical issues on the documents and their underlying
architecture. The CG, on the other hand, will be a good place for the "how
do I do [X]" or "Should [Y] work the way it does in the [Z]
implementation?". Having a forum for developers should also make it easier
to gather feedback and issues as they are discovered - which should help
the WG do its work better.

The CG is not expected to work on any specification - although it might be
a good place to start discussing tips which will eventually result in a
tutorial document.

Finally, let me note that WG members are NOT automatically added to the
community group. You will have to go and join over at
http://www.w3.org/community/audio-dev/ if you wish to be part of the CG.

Best,
Olivier
