The text says "there are two valid formats for an HTTP request",
but it only gives the grammar for one.  I think the text should
read:

(second sentence)  The format for an HTTP request is:
[grammar as shown]

For backward compatibility, the more limited HTTP/0.9 protocol
SHOULD also be accepted.
