Anyway, for modern computers (anything with more than 8 bits), the naive linear search through the list of rectangles is more than fast enough for image map purposes. If it's big enough to run IP, you don't need to do anything. Of course, if I can persuade some grad students to do the web browser for pixelflow, quadtrees and the like will be more useful...
