Flashing or Blinking Content
People with photosensitive seizure disorders can experience a seizure if web content flashes at them within specific parameters. This will be a problem only if all of the following are true:
- The flashing occurs more than three times in any one second period;
- the flash covers a sufficiently large area of the screen; and
- the flash is bright enough.
What to do:
- Examine the screen display, looking for content that flashes or blinks more than three times in one second.
- If no content blinks or flashes at that rate, the page passes and nothing more is needed.
- If content DOES blink or flash at that rate, set your screen to 1024 x 768 and follow the checks below.
What to check for:
- Check that the flashing is smaller than a box that is one third the height and one fourth the width of the screen.
- If it is smaller than the box, the page passes this requirement and no further testing is needed.
- If the flashing is larger than the box, it may still pass but further testing is beyond the scope of EasyChecks. Use resources below if you wish to proceed further.
