I have created two drafts of the scripting
technique format that try to capture baseline information for the technique.
The goal is to explain what technologies the technique relies upon
and to provide any fallback information if the technology is not available.
In meetings we have also talked about assigning each script into
a particular category. The category is still not well represented
in these examples but I tried to include whether or not a technique is
sufficient to satisfy the guideline or it is advisory.
I tried to create the examples using
real techniques to help the conversation. These are rough drafts of proposed
techniques so for now, please do not comment on the technique itself but
rather on the proposed formats and information that relates to baseline.
Example 1 puts the information in a
separate section with headings representing: HTML only;, JavaScript and
CSS available and enabled; and JavaScript and CSS available but not enabled.
Is this the type of information we want to include? What other
headings could we use? How can we mark the category of this technique?
Are "sufficient" and "advisory" appropriate terms
or are there better descriptions?
Example 2 uses a table to try and capture
what technologies the technique can be used with. The column heading
"Type" is used to capture the category of the technique - this
needs a better description.
These files use style sheets from WCAG
so they are best viewed with an available internet connection.
