At the EOWG weekly teleconference, the group first focused on setting an agenda for the upcoming face to face meeting in Boulder at Accessing Higher Ground. Agenda is posted as November face to face meeting agenda on the wiki. Participants who will not attend are encouraged to look at the agenda and indicate on the wiki what times you may be able to attend by phone. Next, Shadi reported on the positive remarks received on the survey regarding the publication of the Planning and Managing suite of three documents. As a result, EO passed the following resolution.
The Planning and Managing Suite of three documents is approved for publication.
Next was the weekly update on resource management. These resources were discussed today:
The meeting wrapped up with a reminder to help Eric focus the Tutorials face to face work by answering the survey. Sharron also reminded everyone to get content in shape (resource management tasks) in order to have clean, current, streamlined content as we resolve design and structure issues for the redesigned WAI site. We have new participants so feel free to ask for any help you need. No meeting next week, will reconvene on Nov 18th. Thanks all!
<Brent> Face to Face Agenda Draft: https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/EOWG_F2F_November_2016#Agenda
Brent: Wanted everyone to see it and provide input. Anyone with addiitonal ideas for what we work on during that time please post to the wiki.
... Monday we have allocated specific times for certain items, Tuesday is less closely scheduled for now. Underneath that is the list of attendees and for those who want to attend by phone, we can arrange and schedule accordingly.
... It would be useful for people to put times in the wiki for when you would be available to attend by phone.
... we did that at AccessU face to face and it worked quite well, so please provide that information.
Brent: any comment on the agenda for the face to face?
<Susan_> F2F agenda looks good to me
Susan: I am glad to see mobile on the list of things to work on and will think more carefully about other items as I wake up :)
Sharron:Thare was a question about the EOWG Self Evaluation agenda item. I have found group work - especially volunteer groups - to be more commonly understood as we do self-evaluation. Some of that occurs with EO as we measure against our charter goals and deliverables but sometimes it is useful to discuss and be sure we all have a common understanding of what we do and how we do it. Since we made changes to the way we work earlier this spring, we want to revisit and get feedback from the group on what works well, what we can improve. As well, the chairs would appraciate your honest and direct feedback on leadership and direction from. I think as we made these commitments to work in this new way, we may have underestiamted the time needed to be successful.
<Susan_> 100% Sharron re: time
Shadi: I did want the group to know that in that last two days in Baltimore, there were so many references to the work of EO, EasyChecks was featured in a presentation; there were references to Tutorials, reference to QuickRef by both government and consulting organizations.
... wanted to share that info as we think about self-evaluation.
Susan: I think the self-evaluation will be good. I remember the enthusiasm around the idea of RM and think it is a good time to get feedback and adjust expectations. I know I overestimated my time to be able to dedicate.
<shadi> +1 to self-evaluation
Brent: It sounds like people are mostly in favor of doing this and tweek our processes and re-set expectations.
... remember that it is all of our WG and that we set our agenda and goals within the parameters of W3C process.
<yatil> +1 to self eval
Shadi: The first agenda item at the F2F is the Tutorials, can we determine which ones we will work on at the Face to Face?
Brent: OK, or we can wait until today's agenda item focused on Tutorials. Any other comments or questions about the agenda?
... There is likely to be a face to face meeting at CSUN, also one in May at AccessU as well as TPAC
Brent: We have many people wanting to join by phone, any way to help us do that?
Howard: Should not be a problem. Wireless is a given so you could use a WebEx.
Sharron: If you can facilitate the use of a conference phone, that would be great...thanks!
Shadi: Brent found a bug, thanks for that. Other comments were mostly positive, even those who had no time for this final review, have reveiwed previous versions and said OK to it.
RESOLUTION: The Planning and Managing Suite of three documents is approved for publication.
<yatil> +1 to the upcoming resolution

Shadi: Thanks to all for the great collaborations.
Subtopic: Tutorials
Eric: We want to ask everyone to take a look at Tutorials structure. We want to work on the Page Structure and Menus Tutorials as well as the more advanced Carousels. I have put the many comments into a format that we can look at to see what people think about basic structure and overall cohesiveness of the tutorials.
... published on GitHub a draftt hat incorportes the comments I have received as well as open issues and notes.
... in the Weekly survey I will ask the groups to skim the resource and provide feedback. At the face to face, look at structure for future tutorials and get the three into shape to publish by end of the year.
Shadi: We have been listening to public comment. Many think it is too wordy. Some of that is reflected in our need to serve botht he audience of people who are entirely new, need justification for what they are doing and those who understand the need and have some experince but just want to be reminded how to do something.
... Eric's work on the Carousels has been great in terms of streamlining, refining the content to be sharp and focused. We can consider if we want to use that approach for the other two.
Eric: Thank you Susan and others for your good feedback. Based on that have made updates to be direct, stop running circles around the topic. That aproach has paid off for the Tutorials and want to try that approcah on the others.
Brent: A lot of thought has gone into these and we appreciate it. Any questions about any of this?
Shadi: Is it OK then to focus on Carousels and Page Structure for the Face to Face?
Brent: Yes, that sounds good.
... As we make the considerations more focused for the group, that is very helpful.
Subtopic: Policies
Brent: MaryJo is unable to attend today and so we will skip that. MJ has the work in progress and will report soon.
Subtopic: EasyChecks
Brent: There were two questions - Caleb?
Caleb: We resolved a lot of issues, published the revisions in the pull request. What remains is the question of whether it should be one question or two?
<Brent> Easy Checks Issue #27: https://github.com/w3c/EasyChecks/issues/27
I wanted to ask Susan because her comments were a bit contradictory.
Susan: At first I thought it should be separate but the way it is worded seems great
Eric: I feel like they should be separate but am OK with combining them.
<Howard> Combining makes sense to me
Sharron: I feel the same, Eric.
<rjolly> Combined with the flexibility to separate them in the future makes sense to me
RESOLUTION: The Easy Checks will be published (no longer a draft) with the addition of the Moving, Flashing or Blinking check as one check.
<dboudreau> +1 to combining, at least for the time being

Caleb: Shawn was fantastic and did so much to move it along.
Brent: Ready to publish then?
Caleb: We have some work to do on illustrations and then will be ready to go.
Subtopic: Other reports?
Brent: Anyone else want to report on other resources?
Brent: Reminder that we will not meet on Friday the 11th.
... however, we will meet on Friday the 18th since we skip the week of Thanksgiving.
... there is an important question about the Tutorials so please do pay attention to the survey in preparation for the face to face.
... ON the top of the work for this week you will have questions that mirror the survey questions and have been adding more detail in the description as a source of guidance for those who have expressed interest in being Invited Experts or otherwise joining EO
<rjolly> +1 for getting some tasks assigned to me
Sharron: Don't forget to be working on your own resources.
Brent: And let us know if you want collaborators.
<Brent> Resource Tool : http://w3c.github.io/wai-resources/
<rjolly> wonderful. thank you for the gentle guidance everyone
<Susan_> if anyone is interested in working on mobile with me, ping me
Sharron: I can help, Susan.
Brent: If anyone else needs help, please speak up and we will get you the support you need.
... any other business for today?
Howard: If anyone coming to the Face to Face is also coming to the conference, please be sure to register.
Brent: OK thanks everyone for your hard work, look at the survey, work for this week and have a great weekend.
