Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
[This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs]

This is a Call for Review of a proposed recharter for the WebAssembly
Working Group:
https://www.w3.org/2026/06/webassembly-wg.html

Please review the charter and indicate your support using this online form:
https://www.w3.org/wbs/33280/webassembly-charter-2026/

The deadline for responses is 23:59 UTC on 11 August 2026 [0].

The mission of the WebAssembly Working Group is to standardize a
size-efficient, load-time-efficient format and execution environment —
allowing compilation to the web with consistent behavior across a
variety of implementations.

The proposed charter adds three new normative deliverables, as follows:

* WebAssembly Code Metadata Specification defines the format and
semantics of extra information attached to a WebAssembly module.
* WebAssembly Legacy Extensions Core Specification defines extensions to
the WebAssembly Core Specification that are deprecated, but may still be
in use.
* WebAssembly Legacy Extensions JavaScript Interface defines extensions
to the WebAssembly JavaScript Interface that are deprecated, but may
still be in use.

The proposed Team resource for this group remains at 0.1 FTE.

The Advisory Committee Representatives of current participants will need
to have their organizations re-join the group if the revised charter
gets approved.

(including horizontal reviews), please see:
