Re: [media-and-entertainment] AI related media use cases (#123)

**Privacy & Security Use Cases**

AI is well-suited to addressing pattern recognition use cases, so online video and audio content offers a vast amount of complex patterns which could yield valuable information if salient details can be extracted in a meaningful way.

For example, AI processing may allow location and time of day to be estimated visually. Facial recognition and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) algorithms could identify individuals and their vehicles from video frames. Quickly aggregating data from multiple sources on the web could facilitate a mechanism for tracking an identifed individual as easily as typing their name into a search engine. This also raises the possibilty of deliberately spoofing such a system using deep fake imagery.

A simple rule of thumb is that if a skilled human could determine particular details by analysing the information available, then AI could replicate that process and achieve the same result in a fraction of the time. Both are prone to error, and the pros and cons of that uncertainty should be considered. Consideration should also be given to the unique nature of location data which provides evidence of both instantaneous presence at a location and future absence from other locations for a known period. As with any sensitive information, data can be safely shared online if risks are properly assessed and addressed.
