Dear Advisory Committee Representative, Chairs, It is my pleasure to announce that the following documents are now W3C Recommendations: Timed Text Markup Language 1 (TTML1) (Third Edition) https://www.w3.org/TR/2018/REC-ttml1-20181108/ Timed Text Markup Language 2 (TTML2) https://www.w3.org/TR/2018/REC-ttml2-20181108/ TTML Profiles for Internet Media Subtitles and Captions 1.1 https://www.w3.org/TR/2018/REC-ttml-imsc1.1-20181108/ The Timed Text Markup Language is a content type that represents timed text media for the purpose of interchange among authoring systems. Timed text is textual information that is intrinsically or extrinsically associated with timing information. TTML1 (Third Edition) specifies the Timed Text Markup Language (TTML), Version 1, Third edition, also known as TTML1, in terms of a vocabulary and semantics thereof. TTML2 specifies the Timed Text Markup Language (TTML), Version 2, also known as TTML2, in terms of a vocabulary and semantics thereof. They are intended to be used for the purpose of transcoding or exchanging timed text information among legacy distribution content formats presently in use for subtitling and captioning functions. IMSC1.1 defines two profiles of [ttml2]: a text-only profile and an image-only profile. These profiles are intended to be used across subtitle and caption delivery applications worldwide, thereby simplifying interoperability, consistent rendering and conversion to other subtitling and captioning formats. There were no Formal Objections. All Members who responded to the Call for Review [1] of the Proposed Recommendations showed support or abstained, with several reviewers indicating that they produce or expect to produce products that use these specifications. Please join us in congratulating the W3C Timed Text (TT) Working Group [2] on this achievement. This announcement follows section 7.1.2 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2018/Process-20180201/#ACReviewAfter Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, Director, Thierry Michel, Timed Text WG Team Contact; Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications [1] https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-members/2018OctDec/0005.html https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-members/2018OctDec/0008.html https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-members/2018OctDec/0006.html [2] https://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/
