<johnarwe_> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-sml/2009Jan/att-0084/20090129-smil-minutes.html

RESOLUTION: Minutes approved unanimously

Action Item 210

John: MSM did complete NS doc updates for CR, but not for older drafts
... Do we need to update older NS docs?

<johnarwe_> old http://www.w3.org/2008/03/sml.html

<johnarwe_> corr new: http://www.w3.org/2008/09/sml.html

HT: I will take on the action item and update the old NS docs

PR request

HT: We have been approved to go to PR
... I will handle interaction with the webmaster
... I'd like permission to make a change to status in the specs

<ht> "Note that substantive technical comments were expected during the Last Call review period that ended 3 October 2008."

<ht> http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2009/02/PR-SML/sml.html#status

<ht> 3rd paragraph

John: Any objections to removing this sentence?

RESOLUTION: The sentence in question shall be removed.

<scribe> ACTION: HT to remove sentence from both specs: "Note that substantive technical comments were expected during the Last Call review period that ended 3 October 2008." [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2009/02/09-sml-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Sorry, couldn't find user - HT

Len: I created the action item by hand. It is ACTION-218, due 2009-02-23.

Review of WG Notes

<johnarwe_> (from wg home page)
epr note draft http://dev.w3.org/cvsweb/2007/xml/sml/epr-note.html
xlink note draft http://dev.w3.org/cvsweb/2007/xml/sml/xlink-note.html

Len: In EPR note, consider 2nd para of introduction.
... I'm not sure what is meant by "a URI that may function as a URL".
... Suggest rewording: "a URI that may be dereferenced."

No objections to that suggestion at this time.

Len: Is there a W3 standard/best practice for mark-up of terms of art in docs? E.g., section 2.1, item 1: [local name]. Should it be hyperlinked? surrounded by square brackets?

<ht> XSD says "References to properties of information items as defined in [XML-Infoset] are notated as links to the relevant section thereof, set off with square brackets, for example [children]."

John: Should we make the mark-up consistent with the style in the SML spec?

No clear consensus.

John: If square-brackets-plus-hyperlink mark-up style is adopted, Notes should probably have an explanation of the notation.

Kirk: EPR note, section 2.1, item 2.c: Convert "SML reference target" to appropriate URI ref.
... Propose that footnotes be converted to inline notes (per practice in other W3 docs).

John: Any objections?

No objections.

Meeting next week

John: Propose cancelling the meeting because it is Presidents' Day in the US.

No objections.

RESOLUTION: WG meeting on 2/16/2009 is cancelled.
