Web & Networks Interest Group now closed

Dear members of the Web & Network Interest Group,

The Web & Networks Interest Group [1] is now closed.

The mission of the Web & Networks Interest Group was to explore 
solutions for web applications to leverage network information and 
capabilities, and edge compute to achieve better performance and better 
efficiency of network .

The Interest Group charter expired at the end of December 2025. With 
work on integrating 5G capabilities taken up in the WebRTC Working Group 
[2], and work on edge computing under incubation in a dedicated 
Community Group [3], the group did not request to renew its charter.

W3C thanks all the participants in the group for their efforts, and in 
particular the chairs who led the group since its inception: Dan Druta 
(AT&T), Song Xu (China Mobile), and Sudeep Divakaran who stepped down in 
September [4].
