W3C Breakouts: Browser HEIF image container support

Hi Media & Entertainment Interest Group, Media WG, PNG WG,

The W3C Breakouts Day is this week, on Wednesday and Thursday.

One topic on the agenda (and raised in Media & Entertainment Interest Group recently), is browser support for HEIF image container format, beyond HEIF/HEIC images. Use cases such as image collections, tiled images, image pyramids where different resolutions or parts of an image could be fetched on demand depending on user interaction (e.g., panning around or zooming into a map image).

The presenter, Joe Stufflebeam, is with the GEOINT Media Standards Board. He's particularly looking for feedback from potential browser implementers and media and image format experts.
