Hello, I took an action to post some pointers to how modularity works in RELAX NG. (Because I concur with Michael Sperberg-McQueen that it’s an a good model for iXML modularity.) The tutorial has a nice section: https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/relax-ng/tutorial-20010810.html#IDAK4YR More details about the specific elements used are in the specification: https://relaxng.org/spec-20011203.html#IDAJ2YR Basically, a grammar author has the freedom to combine RELAX NG grammars in more-or-less arbitrary ways. I think that’s important. I think it’s perfectly reasonable for an (iXML) grammar author to publish a contract, but I don’t think that modularity should be defined such that it prevents someone from violating that contract. Needs must sometimes. -- Norm Tovey-Walsh CEO, Saxonica
