Re: IXML user meetup - a proposal

Hi Bethan and all,
You've invited me to attend these, and I would like to, but I fear life is just too busy and I may never be able to. There is almost always going to be something in conflict with any given Tuesday meeting for me, so I expect any attendance from me will be sporadic at best. There's especially too much going on with big transitions for the TEI this summer for this to work for me. But I'll keep an eye on the mailing list and may submit questions from time to time.

Sorry I can't be more active!
Elisa

Hi, Peter,

I sent out a separate message with details, I think, but just in case:

Tuesday June 30th
15:00 BST (that's London time, currently UTC+1) - 16:00 CEST - 10:00 EDT

Zoom link: <https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84512404953?pwd=aVCBAcK7aC69iuMz1AyjJe1qjk3yAt.1>

<https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84512404953?pwd=aVCBAcK7aC69iuMz1AyjJe1qjk3yAt.1>

Currently set for once every fortnight, in the same slot as the community groip meeting but on alternating weeks.

Please try not to melt before you can come to a meetup :)

Okay, excellent - sounds like there's at least some interest. I'll work out how to set something up for the week after next and we'll have a trial run (without Peter, sadly, but maybe we can make our first meeting awesome enough that he'll get FOMO and never miss another ;) )

I'd definitely be in for that but not for the next two weeks.

Hi, iXMLers!

I've been thinking for a while that it could be nice to have some kind of iXML user meetups, where we can discuss projects and grammars, ask questions and talk through problems, maybe do brief show-and-tell of what we're doing with iXML. It could also provide an opportunity to ask questions of the people who are actively working on the spec about what's in the works for v.Next of iXML, or to talk to implementers about how their processors work.

(For me, I confess it would also provide better motivation to get stuff done between CG meetings - two weeks is eternity when you're as time-blind as I am!)

To be clear - I'm not proposing an official Community Group meetup, and we wouldn't be discussing anything officially. It would just be an opportunity to chat, and share ideas, and maybe geek out a bit about grammars and parsing and ambiguity and all that good stuff.

What do people think about this idea? Might you be interested in coming along? In particular, if you're an iXML user who doesn't regularly attend the CG meetings, might you be interested in a user meetup?

Cheers,

BTW
