COGA task force: Action items, summary, and minutes for March 9th, 2026

Hi, folks, below are the action items, summary, and minutes for today's
COGA task force meeting, thanks.

*Action items*

   - *Everyone: *Please consider sharing the research modules with your
   organization and social networks. See the summary for more information.
   - *Julie* to update the W3C calendar invites for COGA's WCAG 3 review
   meetings. (Updated today after the meeting.)
   - *Julie* to email Rashmi and others to see if they want to co-present
   with Lisa at W3C breakout sessions for each of the 4 new COGA research
   modules on March 25th or 26th. (Email sent today.)
   - *Lisa and Eric* to work on the <amount> scenarios that will be
   discussed with the group at the COGA meeting on Monday, March 23rd.

*Summary*

   - *New start time for COGA's WCAG 3 review meetings on Thursdays at 9am
   ET *
      - Based on the responses to the scheduling survey, we are moving the
      start time to one hour earlier, at 9am ET.
      - The first hour is when we'll do scheduling and start reviews. The
      second and third hours are a working session, including drafting GitHub
      issues.
      - The W3C calendar invites were updated today to reflect the new
      start time.
   - *W3C World Breakout Sessions Day (March 25th and 26th)*
      - COGA is getting ready to submit proposals to have a breakout
      session for each of the 4 new COGA research modules

      - Julie sent an email to Rashi and others to see who wants to
      co-present with Lisa.
      - For people who want to co-present, please put in a margin comment
      about whether/how to adjust the scheduling preferences/constraints in the
      proposal for your breakout session.
      - Julie will submit the proposals in GitHub.
      - *Deadline to submit the proposals:* End-of-day Tuesday, March 10th.
   - *Requesting feedback from other groups on COGA's new breakout modules*
      - Lisa created an "Outreach" tab

      suggested wording for a subject line and for the body of the meail.
      - Lisa asked everyone to think about groups to share the modules
      with.
      - The "Outreach" tab also includes a section called "Done (reached)"
      so we don't double-up on any organizations.
      - Lisa recommended including a sentence that says the official date
      for feedback is April 15th, 2026, but that we'd like your
feedback even if
      it's late.
   - *User scenarios needed for APA's proposed <amount> tag*
      - Len shared background on a proposal the APA is considering for a
      new HTML tag to help make numbers more understandable

      especially for people in different countries with different
formatting for
      numbers, such as "1.5" in American English and "1,5" in French.
      - Len noted that currency conversion is *not* in scope for this
      proposed tag.
      - Lisa and Eric will brainstorm user scenarios to add to Len's doc.
      - Other COGA members are welcome to add suggestions asynchronously.
      - The COGA task force will revisit this document on March 23rd.
   - *COGA review of WCAG 3*
      - Lisa updated the group on how the review is going so far.
      - We have blocked off three hours on Thursdays. If you can't come for
      all of it, please come for part of it.
      - We're working on adjusting our template and review process

      - We added a "General questions" tab and "Open questions" tab. The
      latter includes questions about whether we want to compile a
comprehensive
      list of users needs for each subsection now or wait to review a list of
      user needs in the next working draft of WCAG 3 (which will be
published in
      6 months).
      - AI and WCAG 3:
         - John K. asked if WCAG 3 will address the possible benefits of AI.
         - Rachael said AI will be included in the methods for many
         provisions.
         - Lisa noted that COGA is thinking about doing a research module
         on AI.
