Hi, folks, thanks for the good conversation today. See below for summary,
action items, and minutes, thanks.
*Summary*
- *V2 refresher*
- *Background: *We've been "in the weeds" reformatting a few V2
patterns. Today, we stepped back and had a group refresher (and
introduction for new member Jen) to Rain's December 2024 restructure
recommendations
<https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1aOyK6N5coRlT1ZA7SZNp4w4sP7ynxBNNT2HBUt4NCOQ/edit?slide=id.g31aadb93ea3_0_573#slide=id.g31aadb93ea3_0_573>
for the next version (V2) of Making Content Usable.
- *Today's goal:* To gather questions and help make sure we aren't
missing any work that has already been done.
- *User stories vs user needs:* Len and Jen shared research insights
on why the V2 template calls for having a few user stories in
each pattern
rather than a long list of user needs. (See minutes for more detail on
this.)
- *Julie's (outdated) annotated V2 design elements:* The outdated doc
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lHnpVPSzp1Fe2N5aZwJYm_Q3rObkwQ9BA6FInZM7tVw/edit?tab=t.0>
needs to be redone, but includes some recent insights from Rain.
- *V2 pattern about interactive controls*
- The subgroup also discussed the problem of what guidance to provide
in a V2 pattern about target size for users who need cognitive
accessibility support.
- Jen confirmed there is no published research on this topic.
- The subgroup agreed to add a sentence that says, "When possible,
use WCAG 2.2's enhanced target size
<https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG22/#target-size-enhanced>of at least 44 by
44 CSS pixels."
*Action items*

reviewed by:
- W3C's Kevin, Shawn, and Tamsin?
- COGA task force?
- COGA community group?
- Was feedback incorporated from any of the above?
- Any blockers or other essential updates from these reviews?
- Any progress made on next steps
